My name is Colt Klements, and this is my second year at Green River High School. I was born and raised in Evanston, Wyoming and I plan on staying in Wyoming for the rest of my life. After high school I went to WWCC where I received my associate degree in education. To complete my college career I went to the University of Wyoming where I received my bachelor’s degree in education with English L.A. as my content area. The classes that I teach at GRHS are World Lit/Mythology, Studies in Film, and Journalism.
Many of the things I do outside of school involve the outdoors. I love hiking, snowboarding, boating, hunting, and many other activities that Wyoming has to offer. I especially love snowboarding and during the winter months that is what I try to do with most, if not all, of my leisure time. In addition to this, I love to travel. I feel that people can learn the most about the world and themselves by experiencing different places, cultures, and enjoying the trip itself.
As much as I love the outdoors, sometimes I get stuck inside and have to find other things to do. In this instance, I love to watch movies, read, and play board/card games. Some of my favorite movies include 'The Gangs of New York', 'The Dark Knight Rises', and 'Fury'. My passion for reading is what sparked my interest in teaching English L.A. Some of my favorite books are the Harry Potter series, 'Great Expectations', and 'Fight Club'. When it comes to card or board games I really enjoy Phase 10, Skip-Bo, and Sorry.
I also am a very big sports fanatic. I love all sports and I also enjoy playing all sports. Most of my favorite teams hail from Colorado, such as, the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, and the Colorado Avalanche. Other sports teams that I like are Real Salt Lake, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Manchester United Red Devils.
I find myself extremely fortunate to be teaching in this great district. Everyone from the principals to the custodians offer something one could learn from. As a kid, and even in my teenage years, I would have never thought that I would end up in Green River, and now that I am here I don’t think I ever want to leave. I truly enjoy this community and am honored to be a part of it.
